When I'm not thinking about robots in my work and research contexts, I like to think about how to have viable non-invasive autonomous systems in our oceans, forests, and cave systems to help understand our world and the fauna that lives on it better.Â
I envision a world where autonomous platforms can be viably used for environmental monitoring, remote area exploration, and keeping records of our most vulnerable and misunderstood species. For me a significant goal would be to achieve these applications through biomimicry in the autonomous platforms that we use. A significant inspiration for me is the work of Francois Delaroziere and the hydraulic and mechanical animal puppets.
Beyond the robotics world, my hobbies are Cycling, Running, Rowing (and coxing!), Hiking, and playing Clarinet. You can also find me struggling to learn new languages or writing about all my pastimes and my experience of being a Mexican in the greater diaspora.
